That’s easy.
It’s because you believe that I will be able to help you succeed.
Why would you want to believe that? Let me give you five reasons!
I ask deep insightful questions that deliver better solutions to the pains your customers have
Track record of working with startups and delivering results
I’ve worked with thousands of entrepreneurs and hundreds of startups.
Here are some result’s I’m proud of
- Scaled a Y-Combinator funded ($9 million series A) startup’s operations 5X
- $1.8 million in sales in Year 1 of my first startup
- Reduced payroll by 40% for one startup with no redundancies
- Built an automated quoting system in Salesforce that reduced headcount by 70% and increased the conversion rate.
- Revised a startup’s sales process and increased revenue by $100k
Not everyone gets great results. Many still fail. Not as Many
What you get:
A better chance of success. More things work. Fewer things fail. Failures cost less
Entrepreneurs Love working with me
I asked some of my best client’s what they liked about me.
You can see what they said here.
Summarised
- Curious
- Generous
- Thoughtful
- Hardworking
- Insightful
Funnily enough, my worst clients say the same. The difference is in how you respond to my curiosity.
Why?
Why?
Why?
If we understand why we have far more control over the results. Some see it as a challenge to authority. I get that. We don’t work well together
What you get:
A partner who deeply cares about your business and wants it to succeed almost as much as you
You Don’t Get Vanilla, More Like Pistacchio with a taste of Chilli and Coriander!
No one has ever said that I am normal
People constantly complained that I wasn’t
If you want someone to read a blog post or a book and tell you what it says, that’s vanilla.
If you want someone who takes the relevant books, thinks through the problem and comes at it from another angle then I’m a much better fit. We might even write a book together about the journey.
What the crowd does is what we avoid.
Crowds = competition
Competition = slow growth or stillbirth
to coin a phrase
Think Different
What you get:
Different approaches that enable you to become a leader and face less competition
Breadth and Depth Come to the BBQ together
Your average innovation consultant has done a business degree, worked for a big organisation and then decided to do their own thing. Less typical ones have done a business type degree, run a small business and then generalised that experience.
Philosophy – my first degree. I want to understand everything and everything. How do you make sense of it? How do you explain it? How do you change it?
Systems Engineering – my first career. I designed systems and processes to work well. How do we make this work? What do we need? What can we remove? How do we make it cheaper / faster / better / stronger?
History of Ideas – my passion. I think have about 10,000 books. 90% I’ve read. Mostly business, economics & history. So many good ideas with explanations of success and failure. All available to use and reuse
Startups – my life. Every day I talk to 3 – 5 people about their business. How does it work? How do they compete? What do they do well? What’s my take away? Some are amazing startups at 500 Startups or MaGIC. Some are guys on the street doing something interesting. Thousands of case studies of what works and what does not.
What you get:
Powerful interesting ideas and approaches that no one else is thinking about that can give you a competitive advantage
I’ve Seen the Elephant
Running a startup is tough. It is an emotional rollercoaster. The highs and lows can make it so hard to push forward and get results. I know I’ve been there too.
Here are some of the highs and lows I’ve experienced.
- raising funding hours before we had to close the doors
- making a choice between food for me and my wife or baby milk for the kids
- getting to the finals of prestigious startup awards
- being told “you’re f***ed” by one of the most powerful men in business
- closing every deal we bid for
- discovering that the market didn’t exist after I built the product
When you are in the same place I know how you feel. It can be amazing. It can suck. Having someone who understands what it feels like makes a big difference. I do. I’ve been there
What you get:
Someone to carry you through the tough times. Someone who will help you hold it all together
Are you an Entrepreneur?
Are you copying a business model?
Are you creating a new one?
I can help you get it right
